Radio Shack is best known as the neighborhood electronics store. For many years Radio Shack hailed at the top of electronic stores internationally having had locations as far as Australia, the UK, Canada, and currently Mexico. Radio Shack, the company, was founded in 1921 by Theodore and Milton Deutschmann in Boston, Massachusetts. In the 1960’s the brothers and their small store were having problems operating the store and maintaining enough revenue to keep the company going, essentially placing them in a bankruptcy situation. However, the brothers were saved by entrepreneur Charles D. Tandy, and were bought out for $300,000. Today, however, Radio Shack is coming to an end after years of service to our community and communities all over the country.
Radio Shack has announced that it is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. After years of consecutive quarterly losses, the corporation and its directors decided to file for Chapter 11 protection bankruptcy on February 5, 2015. The bankruptcy is rumored to close about 1,784 stores nationwide at different stages. A list of closing stores was released by Quartz and various other sources. Listed below are a few of the stores set to close in the greater Hialeah area.
